Rewinding time was just the beginning for Max Caulfield, as the protagonist of Life is Strange is poised to return with a new ability. Releasing on 30 October 2024 for PC and console, Life is Strange: Double Exposure is set 10 years after the events of the first game, following a grown-up Max who discovers the power to experience two parallel timelines simultaneously
The upcoming adventure, described as a direct sequel to the 2015 title, will also head to the Nintendo Switch “at a later date”, with a new announcement trailer offering a glimpse of the sleuthing, intrigue, and relationship dynamics to come.
“Max Caulfield, photographer-in-residence at the prestigious Caledon University, discovers her closest new friend Safi dead in the snow. Murdered,” reads the official synopsis by developer Deck Nine, taking over the reins from Dontnod Entertainment.
“To save her, Max tries to Rewind time – a power she’s not used in years… but instead Max opens the way to a parallel timeline where Safi is still alive, and still in danger! Max realises the killer will soon strike again – in both versions of reality. Only Max can Shift between the two parallel timelines to solve and prevent the same murder.”
