It’s Lara Croft’s world, and we’re living in it. Fresh off a Guinness World Records win, the most popular video game heroine will mark her return to danger in not one, but two upcoming titles. The first, titled Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, is set to deliver a reimagining of her debut character in 2026, a year before she embarks on a new adventure in Tomb Raider: Catalyst.
The double dose of good news was unveiled during The Game Awards 2025, with the trailer for the former showcasing Lara’s athletic and fighting chops in upgraded Unreal Engine 5 visuals. In the other, she’s seen fending off new adversaries with her dual pistols and executing a series of parkour sequences to flee collapsing ruins.
“When ancient secrets and mysterious guardian forces are unleashed by a mythical cataclysm, Lara races to uncover the truth beneath the fractured landscape of Northern India before the world’s most notorious treasure hunters can use its power for their own gain. As the ancient world collides with the present, Lara must decide who to trust among rivals and allies, prevent a catastrophe, and protect a secret that could reshape the future,” reads the synopsis of Tomb Raider: Catalyst, which is described as the “largest Tomb Raider adventure to date.”
The forthcoming sequel is helmed by returning studio Crystal Dynamics, which is also working on Legacy of Atlantis alongside Flying Wild Hog. It will mark the first instalment in the franchise since 2018’s Shadow of the Tomb Raider and serve as its sequel, featuring a character design that seems like a mix between classic and modern Lara.

In the lead-up to her return to the video game world, the adventurer has carved out a career on the small screen, including the animated show Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft, now in its second and final season, and an upcoming live-action series starring Sophie Turner to be directed by Fleabag‘s Phoebe Waller-Bridge.
Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis launches in 2026, while Catalyst is scheduled for a 2027 release.
