Krispy Kreme Welcomes Lunar New Year 2024 With Citrus Filled Mandarin Orange Donuts

In time for the Lunar New Year, Krispy Kreme — famous for its glazed donuts — has launched three limited-edition flavours in Singapore. These donuts are available at all Krispy Kreme outlets islandwide from now till 11 February 2024, while stocks last.

The first, Auspicious Orange (S$3.90), pairs an orange filling with a citrus-flavoured glaze topping. This auspicious creation represents the beloved Mandarin orange, and is designed to bring a burst of flavour and good fortune.

The Prosperity Bag (S$3.90), meanwhile, is glazed with rich red velvet and adorned with yellow edible chocolate ribbons, symbolising good luck and wealth.

Finally, the Snowy Blossoms ($3.90) boasts a delicious strawberry filling, complemented by a pink glaze topped with dried strawberries. Reminiscent of blooming peach blossoms, this symbolises luck, prosperity, and growth in the new year.

For those looking to bring a sweet treat along for visiting, the limited-edition Prosperity Box (S$19.80) includes each of the above festive doughnuts and three other assorted doughnuts of choice priced below S$3.30. To sweeten the deal, Krispy Kreme is absorbing the Goods and Service Tax (GST) increase that recently kicked in, with all donuts now priced under S$4 each.

The Lunar New Year spirit extends to popular smoothie brand Jamba Juice, which started out in the 1990s in California and can be found in many places in the United States. For many of us, however, our first encounter would have been through the movie Crazy Rich Asians, where Rachel teases Nick about being wealthy yet still stealing her Jamba Juice card.

That changed last year, when Jamba opened its first outlet in Singapore. Now, there are four juice bars across the island, with its latest smoothies rated as Nutri-Grade A and B under the recent extension of Nutri-Grade requirements to freshly prepared beverages. Made of 100 percent natural ingredients and free of preservatives, each drink is low in sugar and saturated fat content.

Each serving is generously sized, with their 355 ml and 473 ml offerings providing up to two-and-a-half servings of fruits and vegetables. These new additions are enriched with the benefits of oats, which caters to the growing demand for healthier food products.

Unlike some other smoothies around, Jamba’s smoothies are really smoooooth and have no fruit chunks or icy bits. Agave is also the chosen choice of sweetener, coming in as a natural substitute for sugar.

The new smoothie flavours available in store now are:

  • Mango-a-go-go (Nutri-Grade A, starting from S$5.90) brings together fresh premium quality mangoes from The Philippines, pineapple juice, non-fat yoghurt, bananas, and pineapple overnight oats.
  • Island Green Passion (Nutri-Grade A, starting from S$5.90) is made with fresh premium quality mangoes from The Philippines, kale, pineapple juice, non-fat yoghurt, bananas, and pineapple overnight oats.
  • Strawberries Wild (Nutri-Grade A, starting from S$7.90) is made with strawberries, apple juice, bananas, non-fat yoghurt, and apple overnight oats.
  • Caribbean Passion (Nutri-Grade A, starting from S$5.90) is a blend of fresh premium quality mangoes from The Philippines, pineapple, strawberries, pineapple juice, non-fat yoghurt, bananas, and pineapple overnight oats.
  • Chocolate Moo’d (Nutri-Grade B, starting from S$5.90) is one of Jamba’s timeless classics, now blended with oats. It is made from frozen yoghurt, apple overnight oats, and chocolate sauce. [GC’s pick because you still get to have that guilty indulgence with the chocolate and healthy benefits along with it!]
