Knuckles, the Sonic the Hedgehog spin-off series, is breaking records on Paramount+, being viewed by audiences for over 4 million hours in just days, making it the most watched original series on the streaming service.
All six episodes were released at the same time on 26 April, and despite Knuckles himself not appearing as much in the show as fans might expect, the series was still well-received by young fans.
“The Sonic the Hedgehog fans came out in full-force,” said Jeff Grossman, executive vice president of programming at Paramount+. “We’re so thrilled with the record-breaking performance of Knuckles and the incredible lift the whole Sonic universe has experienced following Knuckles‘ premiere.”
Producer Toby Ascher previously shared his plans for the franchise’s theatrical releases to feel like ‘Avengers-level event films‘, saving the big surprises and fan-favourites for the movies and dialling things back for the TV series. With Knuckles ready to swing back into action, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is shaping up to be an action-packed ride in theatres on 20 December 2024.
