Kingdom Hearts TV Series Reportedly In Development At Disney+

If you’ve found yourself craving more of Sora and gang’s journey after the release of Kingdom Hearts III last year, then you’ll be glad to know that a Kingdom Hearts TV series is reportedly in the works at Disney+

News of the TV adaptation being in development came from a few journalists in the entertainment industry posting on Twitter.

According to Emre Kaya, writer for The Cinema Spot, the show will most likely be CG animated and not a live-action series. Disney had also originally wanted to work on the show but Square Enix ended up taking up the task, creating a pilot episode using Unreal Engine, the same software used to create the video game.

Skyler Shuler, editor-in-chief of The DisInsider chimed in on Twitter, stating that “Disney VO actors are expected to reprise their roles (Jim Cummings, Bill Farmer, Tony Anselmo)”.

Though not much else is known, as neither Disney nor Square Enix has made any announcements for a TV series, it will likely follow the basic premise of the game which has Sora, Donald, and Goofy travelling through various Disney worlds. As the series features both Disney and Final Fantasy characters, we might just get to see the likes of Sephiroth and Cloud in the TV series.

It is also unknown if the TV series will be continuing the story of the game or if it will be taking a whole new direction. Will we get to see Sora and gang visiting a galaxy far, far away? Or maybe they might return to worlds previously explored in the game? Nobody knows, but hopefully, we’ll get more concrete news on the TV adaptation from Disney or Square Enix soon.
