Sony’s Playstation 5 Reveal Set For Early June

There is no question that by the end of 2020, we will be looking at a new console generation. The Xbox Series X and the PlayStation 5 have been talked about for ages now, and it feels right to finally have a glimpse of Sony‘s console.

According to sources speaking to Bloomberg, a digital event for the PS5 reveal will take place “as early as next week,” followed by multiple events over the next few months. While a set date has not been mooted, it is likely to take place on June 3. With the current pandemic status, that will, of course, be subject to change.

As part of the marketing strategy, Sony will not be showing everything about the PlayStation 5 at this digital event, with other details being shared at subsequent showings.

This is similar in vein to how we were introduced to the DualSense controller, as well as the technology running under the hood as shared by Mark Cerny. The Unreal Engine 5 demo running on PS5 was another highlight thus far.

The announcement will come after Sony CEO Kenichiro Yoshida stated that “we will be soon be announcing a strong lineup of PS5 games.”
