Kevin Feige’s Vision For MCU’s ‘Vision’ Inspired By Star Trek

Although Agatha All Along is the first Marvel TV spinoff following the events of WandaVision, it will not be the last. Expected on Disney+ sometime in 2026, Vision will follow the new adventures of the resurrected version of the titular character (Paul Bettany), with a new storyline for the character, and a new vibe for the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

Kevin Feige, the mastermind behind the MCU, credits Star Trek for shaping its creative direction. Speaking to Inverse, Feige revealed that Terry Matalas, the acclaimed showrunner of Star Trek: Picard Season 3, will helm the upcoming Vision series on Disney+, set for a 2026 release.

Matalas, known for his storytelling prowess in Star Trek: Picard, was handpicked by Feige, who was impressed by Matalas’ work on the series, which earned critical acclaim and a significant spot in the Nielsen ratings. “That’s how I got to know him,” said the MCU Studios head. “It was from his amazing work on Picard Season 3. I said, ‘This is incredible. I don’t know how this exists. Let me find the person who made this’.”

Vision promises to explore new narrative depths with Paul Bettany reprising his role, enriched by Matalas’s versatile storytelling that previously engaged audiences in 12 Monkeys. Though it’s unlikely to mirror Star Trek: Picard directly, Matalas’ involvement suggests a blend of deep character exploration and expansive storytelling, promising a fresh yet familiar experience for MCU fans. The connection might even extend to casting, with hints of potential crossovers like Aaron Stanford’s Pyro, adding layers of intertextual narrative threads.

We haven’t received much information about the show itself, except that it will hit Disney+ in 2026.
