JJ Abrams Reportedly Working On New Constantine Live-Action Movie

DC’s John Constantine first made his big-screen debut in 2005’s Constantine starring Keanu Reeves. The character has since lived on since through animated films and live-action TV series but for the first time since 2005, Constantine might be returning to the silver screen once again

According to The Direct, Warner Bros. is reportedly working on a new live-action Constantine film, with JJ Abrams on board as producer along with his production company Bad Robot. It is not clear yet if this film is a sequel to the original 2005 film, or if its a reboot.

Though it is also not clear if Reeves will be reprising his role as the titular detective, there is definitely excitement around the star possibly returning to the role once again.

Aside from The Direct, The Observer’s Brandon Katz has also taken to Twitter to confirm that he has heard “whispers about this”. He also talked about the possibility of Reeves returning as Hellblazer.

Considering Reeves resurgence in popularity and his popularity in the box office with movies like John Wick 3, it will altogether not be that surprising if we see end up seeing Warner Bros. asking for Reeves to return to the role of Constantine. 

For now, fans of Reeves can look forward to seeing him on the big screen with films such as The Matrix 4, John Wick 4, and Bill and Ted Face the Music, as well as the upcoming AAA video game Cyberpunk 2077.
