IO Interactive James Bond Game Could Start A New Trilogy Featuring New Bond And Original Story

The highly raved Hitman 3 recently launched last week and game developer IO Interactive is already working on its new project – a James Bond game.

Titled Project 007, the game is the first video game adaptation of the beloved James Bond movies since 2012 and will let gamers play the role of Bond in life-threatening missions, raucous car chases and evil villains with plans to take over the world.

However, the upcoming game will not be based on any of the previous 24 Bond films that spanned over the last 60 years. IO Interactive will be building a James Bond universe of their own from scratch including a new James Bond and an original story. Director Hakan Abrak even teased of a potential trilogy moving forward.

“We have been allowed to make our own digital Bond, which will not lean on a Bond actor. We are also making a completely original story, and you could easily imagine that a trilogy could come out of it,” said Abrak in an interview with Danish media outlet DR.dk.

Project 007 seems like a good next move for the Danish company following the success of their Hitman stealth-action series. Past iterations of James Bond games were shooter-focused and saw the famed agent mowing down a sea of enemies. IO’s flair in depicting violence in the Hitman games means that fans have a lot more excitement to look forward to.

Meanwhile, the James Bond franchise lives on in cinemas with the upcoming (and delayed) No Time To Die, starring outgoing 007 Daniel Craig, releasing 11 June 2021.
