Surreal driving survival game Pacific Drive is receiving a TV series adaptation, courtesy of filmmaker James Wan and his production company Atomic Monster.
According to Variety, Atomic Monster has acquired the rights to develop the game into a TV series, with Wan, best known for creating the Saw, Insidious, and Conjuring franchises, set to executive produce alongside Atomic Monster president Michael Clear (Mortal Kombat, M3GAN) and head of television Rob Hackett (Swamp Thing).

Developed by Ironwood Studios, Pacific Drive was released in February this year and is a first-person survival driving game set in the fictional post-apocalyptic Olympic Exclusion Zone, combining survival game mainstays like resource gathering and crafting with supernatural elements, horror, and realistic driving mechanics. The game received positive reviews from critics and players, alongside a nomination for Best Debut Indie Game at The Game Awards 2024 (TGA 2024).
The Pacific Drive TV series has not been attached to any network or streaming platform as of yet but joins Atomic Monster’s lengthy list of upcoming projects, including espionage thriller Copenhagen which actor Simu Liu is set to executive produce and star in, horror TV series 1313, a reboot of the 1964 classic sitcom The Munsters, and a TV series based on Robocop for Amazon.
As a game featuring horror elements, the Pacific Drive adaptation seems to be in good hands, judging by Atomic Monster’s experience with the horror genre, with recent releases including supernatural horror films Night Swim and Salem’s Lot, and horror TV series Teacup.
