It’s a wrap for The Game Awards 2024 (TGA 2024), an annual celebration of the greatest video game experiences of the year. Asian representation was strong this year, with Astro Bot, Metaphor: ReFantazio, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Black Myth: Wukong and Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree rising to the top as Game of the Year nominees hailing from Eastern developers. Determined not to be outdone, however, was final contender Balatro, a massive achievement in its own right considering it was developed by a single person.
When all was said and done, the little bot that could, Astro Bot, emerged the clear winner of the night, taking home four accolades including the prestigious Game of the Year, while both Metaphor: ReFantazio and Balatro tied closely behind with three wins each.
As always, apart from paying tribute to the best of the best, TGA 2024 was also host to a barrage of world premieres, with exciting reveals of anticipated titles spanning AAA hits and indies alike. Even so, 10 titles still managed to stand out from the crowd to provide unprecedented levels of hype for what’s to come in 2025 and beyond.
Here’s a rundown of everything that was revealed during TGA 2024:
TOP 10 ANNOUNCEMENTS (in alphabetical order)

After a quick CG tease at Gamescom 2024, we finally have our first proper look at Gearbox Software’s Borderlands 4, the latest in the series of looter-shooters. In this first-look trailer, we get our first glimpse of the new shift to a more sci-fi-oriented aesthetic, alongside the introduction of the Rippers, the new robotic enemy faction, as well as the four playable Vault Hunters on offer, with each seemingly falling under the tried-and-true class archetypes from previous entries.
An official release date has yet to be revealed, but the title is still set for a release sometime in 2025 for the PS5, Xbox and PC.
Elden Ring: Nightreign
Shadow of the Erdtree might not have won any awards this year, but Elden Ring still managed to capture the hearts and minds of its loyal fanbase with an in-depth look at its upcoming standalone multiplayer PvE spin-off, Elden Ring: Nightreign, featuring what seems to be aerial combat and traversal, alongside series staples like massive boss battles, and dying over and over again, of course.

Much of The Witcher IV still remains unknown, however, with no further details on its plot, gameplay or release date.
