Henry Cavill Is Not Hanging Up The Superman Cape Just Yet

After Justice League, fans were pretty sure that an era had ended. One which Ben Affleck played Batman and Henry Cavill played Superman. Between the news of Robert Pattinson playing Matt Reeve’s new Dark Knight and JJ Abrams developing a new Superman film, it seems only natural that fans will witness a brand new man of steel.

Well it seems we were mistaken. In an interview with Men’s Health, Cavill said he wasn’t about to hang up the red cape just yet.

“The cape is in the closet. It’s still mine,” he told Men’s Health. “I’m not just going to sit quietly in the dark as all this stuff is going on. I’ve not given up the role. There’s a lot I have to give for Superman yet. A lot of storytelling to do. A lot of real, true depths to the honesty of the character I want to get into. I want to reflect the comic books. That’s important to me. There’s a lot of justice to be done for Superman. The status is: You’ll see.”

It has been two years since we’ve seen Cavill don the tights in Justice League. Even though he was supposed to cameo in the recent Shazam film, there were scheduling conflicts due to Mission Impossible: Fallout.

Henry Cavill

Although fans will be seeing Cavill very soon in the upcoming Netflix series, Witcher, the last son of Krypton still had good things to say about his past DCEU works. He called Man of Steel “a great starting point,” saying that he wouldn’t change a thing while Batman v Superman is “very much a Batman movie,” adding that the “realm of darkness is great for a Batman movie.”

Unfortunately, all he had to say about Justice League was “it didn’t work.”
