Paramount+ Halo Live-Action Series Trailer Debuts Another Faceless Lead

The Halo live-action series, which will be streaming on Paramount+, may not be canon, but it definitely looks action-packed.

The new trailer for the Paramount+ original series gives us another peek at Master Chief (Pablo Schrieber) and Cortana (Jen Taylor). The series is set in the 26th century, when humanity is going up against an alien threat known as the Covenant.

Master Chief is the commander of a unit of Spartans, a group of genetically enhanced super-soldiers. If the trailer is anything to go by, the series will feature high-octane action sequences set against the backdrop of a grander mystery and political intrigue.

Since the timeline in this live-action Halo series won’t be the same timeline as the one in the games, it makes it easier for viewers new to the franchise to enjoy the show. This new timeline is dubbed the Halo Silver timeline, which is separate from the core canon. This could be a blessing in disguise, as this means that the series won’t be bogged down by all the lore from the games and books that were built up over the course of many years. This also allows the live-action series’ canon space to evolve on its own.

Fans of the games will also have a lot to look forward to, with familiar elements being made into cinematic sequences, and 334 Industries working closely with the series’ development so it’ll remain faithful to the game titles.

While we do see Master Chief’s scarred back in the trailer, it remains ambiguous whether the series will keep the lead faceless for the entirety of the series, or break one of the games’ longstanding traditions. The Halo live-action series will premiere on Paramount+ on 24 March 2022.
