‘Hades II’ Breaks Concurrent Player Record With 100k Daily After Early Access Launch

Despite Hades II having just entered early access, it’s already a force to be reckoned with, breaking the first game’s concurrent player record with 100,000 players. The surprise announcement was met with support from fans, who have been anticipating more news on the game’s sequel.

SteamDB tracked the game’s peak at 103,567 concurrent players, which surpasses the original game’s peak concurrent players at 37,749 four years ago by more than half. Crossing the 100k milestone is significant for an indie game like Hades II, from studio Supergiant Games.

News of a beta test for Hades II surfaced in April 2024, and after an extremely limited technical test which showcased a shiny first look at new Greek gods and goddesses, Chthonic characters, various weapons, and other fresh content, the game was released in early access on Steam.

The game will likely stay in early access past 2024, with another region, more weapons, and a decoration system in the works, promising even more players will get out of the sequel. “Hades II in early access already has more environments, foes, and fully-voiced characters than the full version of the original Hades game,” reads the game’s Steam page. “But it isn’t complete, and key areas, characters, foes, narrative events, and systems are still to come.”

The game is currently available in early access on Steam and Epic Games Store.
