God of War Is Being Adapted As A Children’s Book

A is for Atreus, B is for Boy, C is for…

That’s right, Santa Monica Studio’s 2018 video game God of War will soon be getting retold as an adorable children storybook that is just not quite kids-friendly.

Titled God of War: B is for Boy, this children’s book is described as a lighthearted and humorous abridged version of the original 2018 game that adds “a few familiar items and characters into the environments to allude to other aspects of the tale” (via Polygon). It’ll definitely be interesting to see how the tale plays out in the book as the game was definitely anything but humorous.

The book’s official description is as follows,

“In this humorous take on Sony Interactive Entertainment’s God of War franchise, Kratos teaches his son Atreus the ABC’s of the nine realms, including lessons learned from Kratos’s past mistakes. Kratos fills the book’s pages with the essential vocabulary from the world of the game, imparting his questionable (at times) wisdom in an irreverent and entertaining style.”

According to the book’s illustrator Romina Tempest, B is for Boy will be kids-friendly “for the most part” but you will definitely need to “cover your kid’s eyes in one or two places to guarantee a completely kid-friendly experience.”

God of War: B is for Boy is published by Insight Editions and you can preorder it for US$16.99. The book is set to release on 1 September.
