You know who makes amazing kicks? Onitsuka Tiger. Know who makes kicks amazing? Chun-Li from Street Fighter. Now what happens when you combine the two? Amazing geeky kicks (pun intended) of the highest order.
Recently, Onitsuka Tiger announced a collaboration with Capcom’s hugely popular fighting game Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition, in the form of a new pair of the MEXICO 66 SD sneakers, all decked out in Chun-Li’s colours.
Actually, there are two versions of this sneaker, but either way, the iconic fighter’s signature blue-and-yellow colour scheme is represented quite nicely. The two colour variants that were launched are White x Glacier Gray, and Acid Yellow x Soft Yellow.
Both sport the signature Onitsuka Tiger and Street Fighter logos on the heel flaps, as well as the inner soles. Chun-Li’s signature dragon pattern that normally appears on her belt also adorns the bodies of each pair, as a subtle nod to the iconic fighter.
But that’s not the end of the collab; purchasing the shoes also nets you a product code card that grants a special Chun-Li skin that decks her out in Onitsuka Tiger gear, including the special Mexico 66 SD sneakers. Talk about immersive.
The limited-edition Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition Mexico 66 SD sneakers will be launched on July 27 in Singapore, exclusively at Onitsuka Tiger Ngee Ann City, as well as selected Onitsuka Tiger-directly run retail outlets across the island. Each pair will priced at S$229 each, regardless of size (from sizes 3 – 14).
Only 120 pairs of these sneakers will be available on the Little Red Dot, with a total of only 5,000 pairs available worldwide.
