Geek Review: Belkin BoostCharge Pro Wireless Charger for Apple Watch + Power Bank 10K

Until the day all tech companies come together to establish a universal connector that can charge all portable electronic devices, users are going to have to keep buying charging accessories to cater to the many devices they own. Unless accessory brands decide to combine the ability to charge multiple devices into one, which is what Belkin has done with the Belkin BoostCharge Pro Wireless Charger for Apple Watch + Power Bank 10K that serves as a charger for your portable devices, from Android phones to Apple devices, as well as the Apple Watch (and Apple Watch Ultra).

Where this charger stands out is the Apple Watch MagSafe charging pad built into the palm size unit, where you can simply attach your Apple Watch to it. It might seem silly, but not all devices use the same charging connectors and while you can carry around a spare Apple Watch charger to connect to a portable battery, the addition of an Apple Watch charging pad, which makes this look like a black baton with a giant white button, is simple yet efficient. It’s also soft to the touch, encased in the same silicon material as Apple phone cases.

At a recent staycation with the family, where each night saw the need to charge six iPhones, three iPads and three Apple Watches, the challenge was in having enough Apple Watch charging cables. Most households with devices in Apple’s ecosystem would have spare Lightning and USB-C cables, but not so for Apple Watch chargers, and their size don’t make them easy to pack.

With this unit on hand, there was no need to even bring one. Simply rotate the charging of Apple Watches as needed, and you can easily charge all three with one device in under two hours, and still use it to charge your other phones in the room or on the go. If you’re one of those who love wearing your Apple Watch but tend to forget to charge it, this unit is a boon as you can charge it on the commute to and from work, or during a meeting at the office.

With the direct cable, you can charge one device at 20W, and up to 7.5W with the wireless charging point. Yes, there’s no fast charging available, but you’re paying for convenience, not speed here. The 10,000 mAh capacity can also charge your iPhone 14 Pro Max twice, with enough juice left over for your Apple Watch. It also offers pass-through charging, which means you can change your devices while also charging the power bank.

With this as the primary charger, you won’t have the excuse of not having the right cable, and use it to power up all your devices. As the connector with the charger is magnetic, you can even use it to charge your second generation AirPods Pro by resting the unit flat on the table, and playing your Airpods on the white MagSafe portion. The LED display lets you know the current capacity, and indicates when you need to charge it up.

Summary

At S$159, this isn’t the cheapest 10,000 mAh charger you can get but the convenience of charging more Apple devices with just one accessory trumps everything.
