It’s a sad day indeed for the gaming community. John Bain, better known on the internet as TotalBiscuit or The Cynical Brit, has passed away at 33 after a lengthy battle with cancer. The British Youtube Personality and game critic was popular for his videos with game commentary and professional casting work for Starcraft II.
The announcement was delivered via a heartbreaking tweet by his wife, Genna Bain.
Rest in Peace my Dearest Love

This comes only a month after Bain’s official announcement on Reddit on 1 May regarding his retirement from being a game critic, and gives an update on his treatment and health status. He was diagnosed with bowel cancer in 2014, which went into remission in April 2015 but resurfaced in his liver the same year. He mentioned in his retirement post that the chemotherapy treatment had lost its effectiveness and his liver was failing, but planned to continue making his Co-Optional podcasts and streaming with the time he had left.
4 days prior to his death he tweeted saying that he was feeling better and thanked his followers for their support.
The physical part of me is getting a lot better. Mentally, I'm going to need some time. Thanks for your support.
