First Thrilling Jurassic World VelociCoaster Ride Unleashing At Universal Orlando

You love it, you’re scared of it, but you can’t seem to get enough of it. Yes, we’re talking about dinosaurs, particularly the Velociraptors from Jurassic World. After months of conspicuous construction towering over the park, Universal Orlando has finally announced their new Jurassic World themed roller coaster.

Called VelociCoaster, the roller coaster is shaping up to be one of the wildest rides at the park. With two different launches, the ride will take riders through an elaborate design of the Velociraptor compound set with waterfalls and animatronics of the Velociraptors looming at every corner. The ride will reach speeds of up to 70 mph in 2.4 seconds and include a 360 degrees barrel roll.

Not crazy enough for you? The roller coaster ride will have its first-ever zero-gravity inverted stall that will have riders upside down 100 feet above the ground. This comes right before the second launch where the coaster will ride up a 155-foot spike hovering over the park’s lagoon near the Jurassic Park welcome centre before making an 80 degrees plunge down.

The VelociCoaster roller coaster is the first Jurassic-themed roller coaster, with many other of its themed rides being attractions. Labelled as “a new species of roller coaster”, the VelociCoaster has lots to live up to, but just looking at the ride’s trailer, it’s already got our hearts pumping.

Can’t wait till 2021 to get some Velociraptor action? Try running away from them in Jurassic World Aftermath VR Game for Oculus Quest this December. Jurassic World: VelociCoaster is set to open in summer 2021 at Universal Orlando Islands of Adventure.
