Agatha Harkness has been through a lot even before starring in her own Marvel Disney+ series. The show went through numerous title changes in the span of about 2 years, from Agatha: House of Harkness to Agatha: Coven of Chaos and finally landing on Agatha: Darkhold Diaries. The good news is fans can now take a first glimpse into the WandaVision spin-off through a special feature on the upcoming Blu-ray WandaVision release.
The special feature showed various behind-the-scenes footage of Hahne playing her role as Agatha Harkness in different sets. Apparently, Agatha: Darkhold Diaries will involve locations like dark forests, a morgue, and the familiar suburban setting of WandaVision’s Westview, New Jersey. This feature solidifies the presence of other cast members of the show like Patti Lupone, Joe Locke, and Debra Jo Rupp. The takes behind the scenes also suggest that Harkness will don various outfits including a dark blue coat.
Fans of the MCU have been eager to follow in the footsteps of Agatha Harkness again, with the sentiment shared equally by those producing the series. The show’s co-executive producer Mary Livanos cited the opportunity for Agatha: Darkhold Diaries to further show the character’s “heartfelt and dangerous” sides. An interview with Lupone also revealed the show to include original musical pieces.
Agatha: Darkhold Diaries is set to release in the Fall of 2024 on Disney+. It was reported that the show will have an extended run of 9 episodes similar to WandaVision. This would mean more opportunities for Marvel Studios to lay deeper groundwork for character development and incept more earworms like Agatha All Along into the heads of fans.
