Marvel Springs Two Eternals Post Credit Scenes, Raises Fans’ Hope For More

Just like every other Marvel movie that came before it, Marvel Studios’ Eternals has post-credits scenes that you HAVE to watch if you’d like to know what’s next for our heroes. With not one, but two post-credit scenes, fans can expect to be heavily teased for future Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) movies.

The first scene happens after the short credits and the final scene happens all the way to the end, and we’re talking once EVERYTHING has rolled past.

After stopping the celestial Tiamut, Thena (Angelina Jolie), Makkari (Lauren Ridloff) and Druig (Barry Keoghan) got on the Domo aka the Eternals’ spaceship and blasted off into space. The trio have intentions of finding fellow Eternals on other planets and telling them the truth of Arishem’s plans.

Frustrated and out of luck, Thena, Makkari and Druig discussed going back to Earth to find Sersi (Gemma Chan), Kingo (Kumail Nanjiani) and Sprite (Lia McHugh) only to be interrupted by an unexpected visitor. The visitor in question? Thanos’ brother Eros and his little friend Pip.

Played by singer Harry Styles, Eros who is also an Eternal, comes on board the Domo to offer his help. Just like Ajak (Salma Hayek) and Sersi, he possesses the sphere that allows him to talk to Arishem. He shared that the Sersi, Kingo and Sprite are in grave danger and that he knows exactly where to find them.

The second post-credit scene sees Dane Whitman (Kit Harington) in a study. Possibly taking Sersi’s advice to see his uncle, Dane is seen standing in front of an old chest, stamped with his family’s crest, and deliberates opening it. After gathering some courage, Dane opens the chest and in it, lays the powerful Ebony Blade. As Dane reaches out to touch it, a voice booms from behind him to ask him if he’s ready before the screen goes to black.

The Ebony Blade is a magical blade forged by Merlin and Sir Percy from the Starstone meteorite. Enchanted to cut through any object, to prevent the death of its wielder, and to deflect any magic, it is a sword wielded by Black Knight.

With Eternals leaving plenty of Black Knight-related hints, the post-credit scene raises hopes of a Black Knight movie sometime in the future with Harington wielding the Ebony Blade.

In the comics, Black Knight has aided the Avengers from time to time though the superteam has been careful to keep him at arm’s length. Black Knight only gained their trust after assisting them against Kang the Conqueror.

Kang?? Yes, this does look like it could tie in Black Knight nicely with the help of the wider MCU with Kang (or a variant) having made an appearance in the Loki Disney+ series and the upcoming Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania slated for 2023.

The Eternals are definitely bound to return sometime in the future of the MCU and from the looks of the post-credits scenes, fans are in for a big ride.
