Disney Cut Out NSFW Mickey Mouse Joke In ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Script

Known for being far more graphic and vulgar than other Marvel projects, the Deadpool & Wolverine movie had its fair share of eyebrow-raising moments. However, one particularly outrageous line in the full Deadpool & Wolverine script didn’t make it to the final cut.

Disney recently published the Deadpool & Wolverine script on its “For Your Consideration” awards-season platform. The document reveals a notable change in dialogue during a scene about halfway through the film, featuring Deadpool and Wolverine meeting the Void-dwelling superhero team consisting of X-23 (Dafne Keen), Elektra (Jennifer Garner), Blade (Wesley Snipes), and Gambit (Channing Tatum).

The pivotal moment occurs just before X-23’s introduction. Deadpool attempts to guess the team’s fourth member, quipping, “There’s four? Wait, is it Magneto? Dear sweet God in heaven, let it be Magneto because with him—” before Blade interrupts with the blunt declaration, “He’s dead.”

In the released version, Deadpool replies with a scathing yet absurd line: “F—, now Disney gets cheap? It’s like Pinocchio jammed his face in my ass and started lying like crazy.” This punchline takes a swipe at Disney’s supposed budgeting priorities. However, the screenplay reveals an even cruder original line that didn’t make the cut. In the earlier version, Deadpool exclaims, “F—! What, we can’t even afford one more X-Man? Disney is so cheap. I can barely breathe with all this Mickey Mouse c–k in my throat.”

Director Shawn Levy addressed this edit in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. “There was only one line in the entire movie that we were asked to change. We have made a pact, Ryan and I, to go to our grave with that line, but I will say that it was replaced with an equally dirty line of dialogue about Pinocchio shoving his face up Deadpool’s ass and starting to lie like crazy. I was like, ‘Ryan, that’s your replacement line in response to, ‘Can we clean it up?’ That’s Ryan Reynolds for you, audacious to the very edge,” Levy said.

The screenplay offers more than just altered dialogue. To maintain secrecy about the cast’s surprise appearances, the script uses code names for the Void team. Elektra is dubbed “Eleven,” Blade becomes “Billy,” Gambit is labeled “Gatsby,” and X-23 is curiously referred to as “Lemon.” Even Chris Evans’ cameo as Johnny Storm is disguised with the alias “Jonathan Byers,” a sly nod to Levy’s work on Stranger Things.
