In a true geeking-out moment, former Man of Steel star Henry Cavill was gifted a special surprise on the set of his latest film, Highlander, and his reaction is incredibly heartwarming.

The 43-year-old actor was on set in Poland filming the remake of the 1986 Christopher Lambert-led fantasy action flick Highlander, where he would be taking on the mantle of its iconic leading hero, Connor MacLeod. As posted by a user on the Warhammer 40K thread on Reddit, Cavill was presented with a Custodes box set from Games Workshop’s tabletop wargame by a local games store owner, and the massive grin seen on his face when receiving it says it all.
For those unfamiliar with Warhammer 40K, the Adeptus Custodes are genetically enhanced supersoldiers who are even more powerful than the Space Marines, and widely regarded as the deadliest warriors in the galaxy. Clad in magnificent gold armour, these elite soldiers are often referred to as the companions of the Emperor of Mankind, serving as his personal bodyguards.
Cavill has spoken of his love of the Custodes, making this a truly apt gift. “I’m the owner of a local store ROLEY in Lodz-Poland and wanted Henry to have some nice Warhammer memories from our city,” wrote owner BenzOC. “He came to me during shooting on set in the Cathedral and was very pleased with the present. Hope he will come back to shoot some Warhammer material here also!”

Of course, Cavill is also set to appear in the planned live-action Warhammer 40,000 adaptation by Amazon, although not much news about the project has been announced since its reveal three years ago. Still, with how much of a fan of the franchise Cavill is, many are confident that it will be done right.
As for Highlander, the reboot has been steadily progressing since 2021 and will be helmed by John Wick filmmaker Chad Stahelski. While story details remain under wraps, previously released set photos revealed Cavill decked out in a stylish leather duster coat and wielding a katana set against the backdrop of Hong Kong and New York, leading many to refer to the film as “John Wick with swords”. No release date has been announced for the reboot, but at least production looks to be in full swing.
