Coveted Magic: The Gathering, The One Ring Card Has Been Found, Valued At US$2 Million

We imagined that Magic: The Gathering‘s coveted serialized The One Ring card would be pulled by a massive card whale on camera or by a streamer. However, reality seemed to have other plans in the mix.

The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-Earth expansion only passed its pre-release window two weeks back, and The One Ring Card has now been found. Plus, it was found in pretty humble conditions much like how the Hobbits came into possession of the prized artifact.

According to Polygon, the card was pulled by a cousin of a regular store customer in Whitby, Ontario Canada. Following the pull, the card was placed in a bank vault, obtained legal services, and subsequently arranged for the card to be graded by PSA.

Card grading company PSA has screenshots of the prized card on their website right now and it certainly looks good in a slab. Graded at rank 9 out of a maximum of 10, the card has a unique look and it’ll be easy to distinguish any replicas floating in the market right now.

Valued in excess of US$2 million, the offer comes from a reseller in Spain for an all-expenses paid trip to deliver the Magic: The Gathering card at a Valencia paella dinner. At this point, we will see if the offer still stands. The best thing the owner had done since pulling the card was to put the management of the sale into the hands of professionals to transact it on their behalf and remain anonymous.

With The One Ring now found, it should send prices of Magic: The Gathering The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-Earth booster boxes downwards. Prices were hitting a high of US$480 at one point for collector’s boosters and are now hovering around US$349 at the time of writing.

As the mania subsides, the next best thing to do would be to complete the 18-card polyptych depicting The Battle of the Pelennor Fields which is equally epic in its own right.
