Chris Pine Stunned ‘Wonder Woman 3’ Got Cancelled

With Wonder Woman 3 notably absent from the new DC Universe film lineup in 2023, the film was rumoured to be dead, despite no official word from DC Studios CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran. Even director Patty Jenkins, who returned to Star Wars project Rogue Squadron after it was clear Wonder Woman 3 would not be happening, said it was over “for the time being, but probably easily forever.” in an interview earlier in the year with Max’s Talking Pictures Podcast.

And the film’s stars have spoken up about the cancellation, with Gal Gadot (Red Notice), who plays the titular character, saying in 2023 that it had empowered her to “do her own projects.” Chris Pine (Star Trek), who plays love interest Steve Trevor, said in a recent interview on Wonder Woman 3’s cancellation with Business Insider that he was “stunned that they said no to a billion-dollar franchise and decided to pivot elsewhere.”

Not that it would’ve made much of a difference for Pine, whose character was killed off in the first Wonder Woman film and then brought back for the second, but is now conclusively dead. “It would be ridiculous to try to bring me back,” he added.

Whether the new DC universe eventually decides to give the heroine her chance to shine in the spotlight again is anyone’s guess, but for now, Patty Jenkins isn’t too confident about the Amazon princess’ future on the big screen.
