Chris Hemsworth Circling Disney’s ‘Prince Charming’ As Lead Role

Mirror, mirror on the wall, who’s the most charming of them all? Chris Hemsworth, if all goes well. Following Disney’s announcement of an upcoming Prince Charming film, word is that the Thor star is currently in talks to play the iconic fairy tale love interest.

Plot details about the pic remain under wraps, and it’s unclear if it will be live-action or animated. However, Deadline reports that insiders have revealed it won’t be specifically linked to Cinderella, where he falls in love with the titular princess. Still, there’s plenty of inspiration to pull from, considering the character’s diverse roots in literature and his romantic ties with various Disney princesses, including Sleeping Beauty and Snow White.

Paul King, director of 2023’s Wonka and Paddington, is helming the project, joining Simon Farnaby and Jon Croker in writing the screenplay. As development on the Prince Charming movie is underway, a release date has yet to be set.

The news comes amid a busy time for Hemsworth, who most recently voiced Optimus Prime in the animated sci-fi film Transformers One. Earlier this year, he starred in George Miller’s Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga opposite Anya Taylor-Joy, portraying the deranged warlord Dementus. Next on the agenda list is Amazon MGM Studios’ thriller Crime 101, featuring Halle Berry, Barry Keoghan and fellow Avengers cast member Mark Ruffalo.

Based on a short story by Don Winslow, the Bart Layton adaptation follows a series of high-level jewellry thefts up and down the Pacific Coast Highway that have gone unsolved for years, mostly because the perpetrator has lived by a strict code he calls “Crime 101.” It releases in theatres next year.
