It’s almost time for Wing Chun master Ip Man’s journey to come to a resounding close, and there’s no better way than to usher in Ip Man 4: The Finale in grand fashion. For Singapore fans, that means a chance to meet Donnie Yen himself in the flesh on during his promotion tour, which has now been confirmed to span across December 9 and 10, 2019.
Kicking off the two-day event would be the official reveal of the Ip Man Pavilion at Our Tampines Hub. The architecture is set to feature a full replication of the movie set from the Ip Man series, alongside a 3D trick-eye illusion that will go on display from December 9 to January 6, 2020. On its opening day, live Wing Chun performances are poised to happen on stage as well, with Donnie Yen taking to the platform to unveil the Pavilion proper. Details of this are as follows:
- Date: 9 December 2019 (Monday)
- Time: 7pm to 8.30pm
- Venue: Festive Plaza, Our Tampines Hub, 1 Tampines Walk, Singapore 528523
The next day, meanwhile, sees a closed-door press conference session in the afternoon, followed by a concluding Gala Premiere at night. This will be the final opportunity for fans to interact and catch him live, so mark your calendar to end the tour off with a bang:
- Date: 10 December 2019 (Tuesday)
- Time: 8.30pm onwards
- Venue: Shaw Theatres Lido, Shaw House, 5th/6th Floor, 350 Orchard Road, Singapore 238868
Of course, this little welcome surprise on local shores serves as a lead-up to the highly-anticipated Ip-Man 4, which has been slated for launch on December 20, 2019. A brief synopsis of the movie reads –
Ip Man’s life remains unchanged after his wife’s death, but he and his son are slowly drifting apart. To seek a better future for his son, Ip Man decides to travel to the U.S. only to find the stable, peaceful life abroad is only skin deep. Underneath lies a deep rooted racial discrimination that is far worse than he has expected. Ip Man re-examines his position and ponders on the reason he took up martial arts in the beginning.– Movie synopsis of Ip Man 4: The Finale.
The Ip-Man franchise has had a great run thus far, and we only hope that it ends on a great note, too – in the way it deserves.
