Blumhouse Developing ‘M3GAN’ Spin-Off About AI ‘SOULM8TE’

Blumhouse and Atomic Monster are back in the M3GAN universe for another thrilling ride, developing a spin-off movie about an AI SOULM8TE, which has set a January 2026 release date. This puts the film right after M3GAN 2.0, which is gearing up for a June 2025 premiere.

Kate Dolan (You Are Not My Mother) will direct the film, with an original story by James Wan, Ingrid Bisu, and Rafael Jordan. Wan teased that the film would be a “thrilling and seductive addition”, and Dolan added that it was “an exploration of relationships and loneliness.”

SOULM8TE follows a man grappling with the loss of his wife and decides to purchase an AI lovebot to seek companionship, but his attempts to form a true bond with her awaken a deadly soulmate that’s far more than what he bargained for.

“Despite technological advances, there are enduring human truths we cannot escape, and I am looking forward to delving into those depths,” says Dolan, and given the film’s erotic nature, it’ll likely be rated higher than its predecessor, which had a PG-13 rating.

SOULM8TE is expected to be released in theatres on 2 January 2026.
