Mass Effect fans, rejoice! Aside from announcing a remaster of its original trilogy, BioWare has also announced that a brand new Mass Effect game is currently in the works.
The news was announced by BioWare studio general manager Casey Hudson in a blog post celebrating N7 Day on 7 November.
“Meanwhile here at BioWare, a veteran team has been hard at work envisioning the next chapter of the Mass Effect universe,” Hudson shared. “We are in early stages on the project and can’t say any more just yet, but we’re looking forward to sharing our vision for where we’ll be going next.”
Hudson adds, “Thank you so much for supporting us over the years. I can’t wait to continue our adventure together – revisiting our favourite memories in the Mass Effect universe, and creating brand new ones!”
Not much else is known about the upcoming instalment, but fans will be hoping it could either be a continuation of the legend of Commander Shepard, or at least a chance to redeem the generally-middling Mass Effect Andromeda in 2017.
One thing we’re certain of is that the new title will almost certainly be coming to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, so expect some next-gen experiences coming to the new game.
With the announcement of not only a new game, but also the Mass Effect: Legendary Edition, fans of the series certainly have a lot to look forward to in the years to come.
