Man of Steel’s Ayelet Zurer Returns As Vanessa Fisk In ‘Daredevil: Born Again’

Daredevil fans have reason to celebrate as Ayelet Zurer (Man of Steel) is confirmed to reprise her role as Vanessa Marianna-Fisk in the upcoming sequel series, Daredevil: Born Again, according to an X/Twitter post.

The image reverses earlier news that Sandrine Holt (Better Call Saul, House of Cards) would replace Zurer in the role for the new Disney+ series. Zurer’s return to the role she originated in the Netflix series comes amid a series of production changes and a recent restart of Born Again’s filming.

Originally, only Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio were confirmed to return from the Netflix series. However, following a significant behind-the-scenes shakeup at Marvel Studios, more original cast members, including Elden Henson (Foggy Nelson) and Deborah Ann Woll (Karen Page), are set to return. The recent reveal of Zurer on set with D’Onofrio confirms her participation in the series, which is slated for a 2025 release.

The decision to bring back Zurer, who portrayed Vanessa across two seasons of Daredevil, highlights the series’ commitment to continuity. Vanessa, a complex character deeply intertwined with D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk, plays a crucial role in Fisk’s narrative, providing insight into his softer side despite her approval of his criminal undertakings. Her relationship with Fisk, evolving from their initial encounters at an art gallery to marriage, underscores her importance in the storyline.

Daredevil: Born Again has encountered its share of challenges, including a pause due to the SAG-AFTRA strike and a creative overhaul initiated by Marvel Studios. This overhaul resulted in the departure of the show’s original writers and directors. The reshuffling aims to ensure that Born Again lives up to the high standards set by its predecessor.

As production continues, the return of Defendersverse characters like Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle/The Punisher and Wilson Bethel’s Bullseye further excites fans. These returns, alongside Zurer’s, signal a deep dive into the rich narrative tapestry established in the original series.

While Daredevil: Born Again navigates through production changes, its commitment to honouring the original series’ legacy and exploring new storylines remains clear. Fans eagerly await the series’ debut, anticipating the continuation of Matt Murdock’s journey and the dynamics of its beloved characters.
