ASUS ROG has announced two new ultra-portable gaming laptops carrying the new Tiger Lake-H processor for their Zephyrus series, the M16 and S17.

The off-black Zephyrus M16 is ASUS ROG’s first 16-inch display laptop with a 4-sided super narrow bezel and a 16:10 WQHD display with a refresh rate of 165 Hz. For content creators, you’ll be glad to know that the laptop is Panton-validated, 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut and Dolby Vision supported.

The entire display is fitted into the ultra-portable 15-inch chassis that weighs only 1.9 kg.

Considerably smaller and lighter than the Zephyrus M15, the dot-matrix colour-shifting gaming laptop will be decked out with Intel’s i9-11900H processor, three options of Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 Ti, 3060 or 3070 GPU and up to 48 GB DDR4-3200Mhz upgradable RAM. Storage-wise, it’ll come with a 2 TB PCIe 4.0 SSD and a second slot for future upgrades.

The laptop uses a 90 Wh battery that offers up to 10 hours of use and type-c charging that takes only 30 minutes to charge up to 50%. It supports WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.2 and includes a fingerprint scanner power on button.

It’ll also feature a 180-degree fold flat ErgoLift Hinge for a quality typing experience, twin tweeters and dual force cancelling woofers with Dolby Atmos. Alongside an AI noise-cancelling 3D mic array, it has a 1 MP webcam for video call usage and plenty of I/O ports such as Thunderbolt 4, micro SD slot, 3.5 mm audio jack and RJ-45 jack.

On the other hand, is their premium Zephyrus S17, a gaming laptop that pushes its performance limits.

Designed in an off-black finish, the laptop is equipped with the Intel i9-11900H processor and NVIDIA GeForce RTX up to 3080 GPU, the 17-inch laptop comes in two display options of either the QHD 165 Hz with G-SYNCH and Advanced Optimus or 4K 120 Hz with Adaptive-Sync. Both displays are Pantone-validated and 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut covered.

Zephyrus S17 features a tilting optical-mechanical keyboard similar to the Zephyrus Duo which help keeps keyboard surface temperature low. Paired with up to 48 GB DDR4-3200Hz RAM and the new 8 cores 16 threads processor, the laptop can clock up to 4.9Ghz for the ultimate performance and speed delivery.

Similar to the M16, it comes with six speakers with Dolby Atmos and twin tweeters with dual force-cancelling woofers for an immersive sound experience. Besides that, the S17 features a 3D mic array, Thunderbolt 4, WiFi 6, a fingerprint scanner power button, an SD card reader, a 3.5 mm audio jack and an RJ-45 jack. It also uses a 90 Wh battery identical to the M16 with type-c charging.

These two laptops are the first few announced carrying the new Intel processor and would be an eye-opener for those seeking performance. If you’ve missed the announcement, catch the launch event here.
