‘Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ Delayed Again By Another Month

It seems like the Creed should add a fourth tenet on patience, as Ubisoft has delayed Assassin’s Creed Shadows yet again, this time pushing it back by another month, with the game now due for release on 20 March 2025.

The delay comes merely a month before its prior release date on 14 February, and was announced via a post on X/Twitter, with Ubisoft stating that “a few additional weeks [were] needed to implement feedback and ensure an even more ambitious and engaging day-one experience”.

While the delay was formally attributed to the “implementation of community feedback”, it does raise questions as to how the team would be able to apply any changes to such a massive title in a mere month.

In a statement to shareholders (as reported by Forbes), Ubisoft added that the new release date would “help create the best conditions for launch”, which may hint at the more likely reason for the delay, which is to avoid competition with other big games coming out in February such as Avowed and Monster Hunter Wilds.

Assassin's Creed Shadows

This marks the second time Assassin’s Creed Shadows has been delayed, with the game initially slated for a release on 12 November 2024. This also comes during one of the most troubling times in Ubisoft’s history, with previous reports stating that the studio is in buyout talks with Tencent following massive layoffs and the shuttering of multiplayer shooter XDefiant, alongside its production studios in San Francisco and Osaka.

As for the fate of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, updated previews following its first delay have already shown improvement in terms of gameplay animation fluidity, so spending additional time to further flesh out the title is always welcome. In any case, fans will just have to wait and see as the game approaches its new release date of 20 March 2025.
