Having made a big splash at The Game Awards last year, Bandai Namco and FromSoftware are back to share more about the impressive-looking Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon. A new gameplay trailer gave fans a closer look at the action that awaits, but more importantly, it also revealed the launch date of 25 August.
Drawing from the experience of creating amazing games like Elden Ring and the Dark Souls franchise, FromSoftware is getting out to expand the series like never before. Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon will be full of mech action and fast-paced battles, giving players the ability to dive into in-depth customisation, and of course, massive and thrilling boss fights.
The action is not restricted just to the ground in Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon, with aerial superiority a key aspect of combat too. To be the most successful and profitable mercenary on Rubicon 3, players must master rapidly changing combat distances, using the environment for protective cover, and omnidirectional battles to overcome challenging enemies and situations.
The premise in Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon centres around a mysterious new substance called Coral, which was discovered on the remote planet, Rubicon 3. As an energy source, this substance was expected to dramatically advance humanity’s technological and communications capabilities. Instead, it caused a catastrophe that engulfed the planet and the surrounding stars in flames and storms, forming a Burning Star System.
Almost half a century later, Coral has resurfaced on Rubicon 3, a planet now contaminated and sealed off by the catastrophe. Extra-terrestrial corporations and resistance groups fight over control of the substance. The player infiltrates Rubicon as an independent mercenary and finds themselves in a struggle over the substance with the corporations and other factions.
Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon will launch on 25 August for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
