Netflix Animation has teased another collaboration with CD Projekt Red for an upcoming series set in the Cyberpunk 2077 universe. Via a post from Netflix Geeked on X/Twitter as part of Geeked Week, a brief 20-second clip was shown, confirming a “return to Night City”.
CD Projekt Red had previously teased during an earnings call that they are “definitely” planning more animated projects in the world of Cyberpunk, but did not go into detail on specifics.
The Polish developers first collaborated with Netflix on the critically acclaimed Cyberpunk Edgerunners, whose success drew a resurgence of players to Cyberpunk 2077. Since then, fans have been waiting with bated breath for a second season.
With joint CEO Michal Nowakowski and the team’s insistence on a one-season run, however, it’s unlikely that a second season is in the pipeline. Instead, it seems likely that this new project will be a completely separate story taking place in the same Cyberpunk 2077 universe.
In any case, fans simply have to “stay tuned” for now, as further details, including a release date, have yet to be announced.
