Aaron Taylor-Johnson Spills Blood In Sony’s Marvel ‘Kraven the Hunter’ Red Band Trailer

The official red band trailer for Kraven the Hunter is finally here, and it’s a bloodbath. At least for Marvel’s standard.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson stars as the titular character in this Sony movie and is out for the blood of those he deems to be bad or evil. He takes down six opponents easily – even biting off the nose of one of them sitting ever so casually in the passenger seat – and uses bear traps as weapons. In another scene, he jumps in the air and impales a guy in a helicopter.

Kraven is on a rampage and is a creative little hunter, and the trailer alludes that these skillsets of his were because of his connection to various animals. Spiders, wolves and lions are among the few – but how he achieves this connection in the movie varies from the comic book origins.

In the comics, Kraven the Hunter got his powers by ingesting a mystery potion made from various jungle herbs that gives him superhuman physical abilities. In the upcoming Kraven the Hunter movie, he received his powers after being attacked by a lion as a kid.

That’s not the only change we’ve noticed, though. A surprise ending revealed that Rhino, played by Alessandro Nivola, is no longer a dude in a mecha suit but is instead, a mutant who can transform into the animal thanks to a special potion.

Kraven the Hunter is shaping up to be a rather violent addition to Sony’s ever-expanding Spiderverse following the Venom and Morbius movies. The newfound taste for blood is welcomed, but straying away from certain comic book elements might not bode well with long-time fans.

Aside from Taylor-Johnson and Nivola, Kraven the Hunter also stars Russell Crowe, Ariana DeBose, Christopher Abbott and Fred Hechinger.

Kraven the Hunter is set to open in theatres on 6 October.
