Somewhere between punching trees and dodging Creepers, A Minecraft Movie has built a fortress of box office success. Riding high on the back of its pixelated charm and crossover star power, the film has now crossed the US$550 million milestone globally, with no signs of slowing. After just two weekends, the family-friendly video game adaptation has amassed an estimated US$550.6 million worldwide, including $269.6 million from international markets.
Based on Mojang Studios’ sandbox game, the movie has resonated across age groups and markets. In North America, it raked in US$80.6 million during its second weekend alone, pushing its North American total to US$280.3 million and has remained locked in the top box office spot ever since.

Internationally, the film added US$79.6 million across 76 territories during its sophomore outing — a modest 42% drop excluding China. Other major markets continue to turn out in large numbers, with the UK leading international sales at US$39.8 million, followed by China at US$20.3 million, Germany at US$18.9 million, Mexico at US$18.7 million, and Australia at US$18.5 million. The film has also generated US$26.6 million in Imax revenue globally, with US$9.6 million coming from outside the U.S.
In contrast, Disney’s live-action Snow White continues to slide, falling out of the top five this weekend. The film’s underwhelming performance has been overshadowed not only by A Minecraft Movie but also by 20th Century Studios’ The Amateur. Starring Rami Malek, The Amateur brought in US$17.2 million from 52 international markets, tallying a global launch of US$32.2 million (slightly above expectations). Most territories placed it second behind A Minecraft Movie.
With A Minecraft Movie outperforming projections and setting the pace for video game adaptations once again, industry watchers will be keeping a close eye on whether it can surpass The Super Mario Bros. Movie and sustain momentum into the coming weeks. For now, Minecraft’s blocky universe seems anything but square when it comes to box office returns.
