‘Mortal Kombat II’ Screening Scores Flawless Victory With Star Ludi Lin Surprising Over 300 Singapore Fans

What’s better than being a part of one of the biggest fan screenings of the year? How about having a movie star show up in a surprise appearance!

Chinese-Canadian actor Ludi Lin (Power Rangers, Aquaman) who took on the role of Liu Kang in the 2021 Mortal Kombat reboot, and is reprising the role in Mortal Kombat II, made a surprise visit to Singapore for Geek Culture’s fan screening, following his Mortal Kombat II press tour in Jakarta, which Geek Culture also attended, to surprise over 300 fans at the exclusive event.

Encouraged by the cheers and claps from the audience, the 38-year-old thanked fans and fueled the pre-show festivities, where five lucky fans were able to walk away with movie premiums, comprising a themed video game controller carrying case, a “Finish Him” cap, and a pair of Johnny Cage sunglasses. Furthermore, fans were also able to put their Mortal Kombat knowledge to the test, with two additional winners receiving a Mortal Kombat II poster signed by Lin himself.

And despite feeling slightly under the weather from all the traveling, Lin remained in the hall to catch the film’s opening act with the crowd.

Following the events of the first movie, Lord Raiden (Tadanobu Asano, Ichi the Killer, Shogun) and his gang of Earthrealm heroes are finally ready to take part in the film’s mortal combat, and now with the help of an unwilling champion – Johnny Cage (Karl Urban, Star Trek, Dredd).

Such are the stakes of Mortal Kombat II, as while familiar Earthrealm champions like Kang, Sonya Blade (Jessica McNamee), and Jax (Mehcad Brooks) are now hard at work bringing Cage into the fold, they will also need to face off against the villainous Shao Kahn (Martyn Ford), whose ultimate goal is to conquer all the realms.

It’s truly a tournament for the ages, and one that over 300 fans in Singapore were able to witness early, thanks to a Geek Culture screening held at Shaw Lido on 5 May 2026, in collaboration with Warner Bros. Discovery Singapore. Audiences were already in for a glorious, blood-soaked joyride, but things were made even more exciting thanks to the surprise appearance of Lin, who made a secret trip to Singapore .

With audiences sufficiently hyped up, what followed were 116 minutes of pure fantasy mayhem, as fans were able to witness the glorious on-screen clash between some of the gaming franchise’s most iconic characters, including Scorpion (Hiroyuki Sanada), Noob Saibot (Joe Taslim), Kung Lao (Max Huang), Kitana (Adeline Rudolph), and Baraka (CJ Bloomfield).

Will the defenders of Earth succeed in their fight to secure freedom from the clutches of Outworld? All will be revealed when Mortal Kombat II kicks off the deadly tournament on 7 May 2026.
