‘Street Fighter’ Movie Unleashes Campy Video Game Action With First Trailer

Here comes a new challenger! Paramount has dropped the first trailer for its upcoming video game movie adaptation, Street Fighter, offering a first look at the live-action renditions of the classic Capcom fighting game characters as they go head-to-head in campy, 90s-style action.

Unveiled during CinemaCon 2026, the three-minute-long trailer drops the first look at its ensemble roster of fighters in action, paying tribute to its source material by including a bunch of stuff ripped straight from the games, such as the countdown timer sound effects or the iconic “Perfect!” line said by the announcer.

Set in 1993, a nod to the original era of the Street Fighter games, the movie will centre on Noah Centineo’s Ken Masters and Andrew Koji’s Ryu, the former being a washed-up fighter-turned-celebrity, while the latter has also shut himself out from the world for his own reasons. Enter Callina Liang’s Chun-Li, who brings Ken, Ryu, and other fighters together to take part in a martial arts tournament, presumably to take down David Dastmalchian’s M. Bison, the man responsible for murdering her father.

Apart from our main trio of heroes, the trailer also shows off the other fighters we’ll see in the movie, including Cody Rhodes’ Guile, who sports his magnificent, game-accurate hairdo, Vidyut Jammwal’s Dhalsim, Orville Peck’s Vega, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson’s Balrog, Olivier Richters’ Zangief, Hirooki Goto’s E. Honda, and Mel Jarnson’s Cammy, alongside a first look at Roman Reigns Akuma and Jason Momoa’s CGI Blanka. One thing’s for sure, Street Fighter isn’t taking itself too seriously, and is shaping up to be a whole lot of fun, even including a few easter eggs for game fans, such as Ken beating up a car, a nod to the car-destroying bonus level from the games.
