The Nintendo Switch 2 version of IO Interactive’s upcoming James Bond game, 007 First Light, has been delayed until late Summer 2026.
As announced via a statement on social media, IO Interactive did not provide a new release date for the delay on Nintendo’s hybrid console, nor a reason, stating “007 First Light comes to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on May 27th, 2026, and Nintendo Switch 2 later this summer.”
This comes following a previous delay last year, which pushed the title back from its initial 27 March release to May, although the plan then was to still launch the game across all platforms simultaneously. No details on why the studio has now decided to launch the Nintendo Switch 2 version months later than other platforms were provided, with IO simply stating its goals to provide players the “best game experience possible across all platforms”.
While purely speculative, this delay is likely due to optimisation, especially considering the daunting task IO faces to port such an ambitious title like 007 First Light to Nintendo’s comparatively underpowered handheld hybrid console.

Known for its Hitman gaming franchise, 007 First Light marks the first Bond-themed adventure for IO, and will star Patrick Gibson (Dexter: Original Sin) as a young Bond and centre on the origins of the famous MI6 agent. The game will also see a star-studded cast of Gemma Chan (Eternals) as Dr Selina Tan, Lennie James (The Walking Dead) as John Greenway, singer Lenny Kravitz as the main villain Bawma, and Priyanga Burford (No Time to Die) as M.
007 First Light will launch on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC on 27 May 2026 as planned, with its Nintendo Switch 2 version now arriving some months later in late Summer 2026.
