’28 Years Later’ Sets Summer 2025 Release

It hasn’t been 28 Days Later since the zombie thriller first landed in theatres in 2002, but after 22 years, the third movie in the franchise, 28 Years Later, finally has a 2025 release window. Plot details are still under wraps, but the sequel’s star-studded cast roster has cinema-goers optimistic.

Alex Garland, fresh off his successful Civil War blockbuster, penned the film’s screenplay, with Danny Boyle directing. Cillian Murphy (Peaky Blinders, Oppenheimer) returns as an executive producer on the blockbuster, which stars Jack O’Connell, Jodie Comer (Killing Eve) , Aaron Taylor-Johnson (The Fall Guy, Bullet Train) and Ralph Fiennes (The Grand Budapest Hotel).

Plot details are still under wraps, but more films are on the way, as the franchise makes its way back into cinemas. It’s unclear if Murphy, who starred in the original 28 Days Later, as Jim, navigating a zombie-infested London post-virus outbreak will make an appearance, but his return as an executive producer is a promising development.

28 Years Later is set to release in theatres in summer 2025.
