Possible Warcraft Mobile Game In The Works For The First Time Since Hearthstone

Warcraft is a Blizzard Entertainment franchise that’s close to the hearts of many. The franchise includes a trilogy of real-time strategy (RTS) games, the massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) World of Warcraft, online collectible card game Hearthstone, and even novel and movie spin-offs.

Thus, when Blizzard announced an “all-new mobile Warcraft content” in their Q4 2021 news release, it is unclear what type of gaming experience will be in store for fans.

Hearthstone has been the only Warcraft-related game on mobile so far, being released on iOS and Android back in 2014. Also, Hearthstone is a card game with gameplay wholly different from the RTS experience of the original trilogy and the action-oriented MMORPG, World of Warcraft.

This is also not the only mobile content that Blizzard is working on, as there is Diablo Immortal, which went into closed beta in November 2021. The mobile Diablo title was heavily criticised by fans when it was first announced in 2018 due to the general impression of mobile games being lesser versions of their full-fledged PC counterparts.

Details regarding the mobile Warcraft content remain scarce, with even the genre of the game being unknown as of yet. As such, it could be anything from an expansion for existing games to a brand new title. Hopefully, more information will be revealed soon, and fans of the classic franchise will have something to look forward to.
