We LOVE strategy games, and the XCOM series has always been a cornerstone of that particular genre here at Geek Culture. XCOM 2 was without a doubt the pinnacle of series thus far in our humble opinions. In addition to the already challenging Ironman mode and the insane mod support for the game, 2017 will also see the release of a proper expansion, War of the Chosen on August 29, that will flesh out the experience even more.

First unveiled at the PC Gaming Show at E3, War of the Chosen will see the arrival of the alien elite, known as the Chosen, as well as the implementation of three new factions, two of which can be seen in the trailer above. The Templars, Reapers, and Skirmishers will be by your side as you attempt to take on the siblings that are the Chosen, and not forgetting the Lost, a swarm of angry, mutated humans that has no allegiance to either side.

War of the Chosen will have XCOM venturing back into abandoned cities, and the Lost could easily show up and mess up your carefully thought-out plans in an instant.

We cannot wait to sink our teeth once more into the gift that is XCOM 2, and we won’t have to wait much longer. XCOM 2: War of the Chosen will be available for Windows PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on August 29, 2017.
