Trump Goes After Violent Video Games In Light Of Recent Mass Shootings

We wished this is satire but it’s true.

After the recent mass shootings in the US, Donald Trump has placed part of the blame on video games.

This is his full quote on the matter –

“We must stop the glorification of violence in our society. This includes the gruesome and grisly video games that are now commonplace.

It is too easy today for troubled youth to surround themselves with a culture that celebrates violence. We must stop or substantially reduce this, and it has to begin immediately.”

While it might be easy to brush this off as “fake news” these same words were uttered during a press conference addressing the mass shootings.

Video games are an easy punching bag when explaining a fairly complicated situation to the masses. While games with explicit gore such as Mortal Kombat have been around for decades now, the correlation between video games and mass shootings are rather far apart.

This is not the first time Trump has made similar comments, having brought up the same talking points about the Internet and video games in 2018 –

It’s effortless to find a scapegoat when the act of reforming gun control in the states is easier said than done. If the goal is to misdirect the public, this is a pretty good tactic all round.
