Singapore’s fourth mobile network operator TPG Telecom has just launched its very first commercial service, with a SIM-only plan that offers customers 50GB for S$10. This is the cheapest SIM-only plan currently available on the market.
The plan will come with 300 minutes of local talk time, 30 local SMS, and 1GB of roaming in selected countries from May.
According to TPG’s country general manager and acting chief executive, this plan is targeted at parents looking to buy a SIM card for their kids, or for those with a second or third smartphone device.
“There will be more and more devices that will require always-on connectivity and this is where we see the opportunity for Singapore customers to try out our services for the additional devices they have,” said Tan.
Tan adds that a “similarly attractive” pre-paid plan is currently in the pipelines though he did not provide any other details.
With the launch of TPG’s commercial plan, they will slowly be phasing out the free-trial they have been running since December 2018, which has attracted over 400,000 users. Existing users will be given the option to either convert to the new S$10 or not continue using TPG, once the trial plan has run its course.
TPG’s new SIM-only plan comes with a much smaller price tag compared to other companies, whose price tags usually start from S$20 for around the same amount of data. Such as M1’s SIM-only plan which offers 30GB for S$25, or GOMO by Singtel which offers 40GB for S$20.
