This Heartwarming Star Wars-Themed Ad From The Philippines Shares The Joy Of Christmas

It seems like everyone is getting into the spirit for the release of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Filipino telecommunications firm, Globe Telecom has just combined the magic of Christmas and the hype for the film with this heartwarming TV advertisement.

Created by Wundermann Thompson Philippines, this ad features two adorable kids dressed up as Star Wars characters going around the neighbourhood borrowing materials like phones, tires, plastic and even bicycle handles.

Early on it’s revealed that they’re building a Starfighter but it wasn’t entirely clear what the ad was leading up to. Once their makeshift starfighter is complete, they invite their friend over for a personal 4D screening of the film, complete with flashing lights, water misting and straws hurtling towards her to mimic hyperspeed.

All that effort already makes your heart melt but there was one twist that we weren’t expecting. At the end of the movie, it’s revealed that their friend is deaf and they’ve put in all this effort so that she could experience the movie in other ways.

The agency commented that “the wonder of Star Wars can touch the lives of everyone, even of those who can’t hear it.” This ad is part of Globe Telecom’s Give-Back Program to donate to Virtualahan, a virtual school for people with disabilities.
