Mamma Mia! ‘The Super Mario Bros. Movie’ Has Two Post-Credits Scenes

Mamma mia! The Super Mario Bros. Movie was an absolute joyride that never ends, especially with two post-credit scenes that fans will want to stay behind for.

Warning: Mild spoilers ahead for The Super Mario Bros. Movie ahead! You have been warned!

The Super Mario Bros. Movie saw Mario try to save his brother Luigi from the evil Bowser but as revealed in the movie, Bowser’s plans includes more than dropping a caged Luigi in a pool of hot lava. The antagonist’s plan all along was to steal the Super Star and use it as a gift to propose to Princess Peach. All this drama just to propose to a girl? Wow, guess love really makes a guy come out of his shell.

Bowser was so in love with Princess Peach that he composed a song for his bride-to-be on a piano and although things didn’t go as planned, the song remains a banger! In the first post-credits scene of the movie, we see Bowser singing and playing the song again on his piano. Except this time, he is much tinier thanks to the Mini Mushroom Princess Peach force-fed him at the end of the movie. Toad asks him to keep his singing down but before Bowser could respond, the screen fades to black.

The second post-credits scene is perhaps a lot more exciting! The Super Mario Bros. Movie saw plenty of the video game characters brought to screen including the brothers Mario and Luigi, Princess Peach, Toad, Donkey Kong, Bowser and Kamek amongst many others, but one fan-favourite character we never got to see was Yoshi!

No, Yoshi was not forgotten. While we never got to see Dinosaur-like character, the second post-credits scene did tease him. In the second post-credits scene, viewers are taken back to the pipes below Brooklyn where deep in the shadows, lies a giant white and green dotted egg. The egg shakes before cracking and the screen turns to black – what a tease! Of course, fans would recognise that egg from anywhere!

We don’t know if The Super Mario Bros. Movie will be getting a sequel but if it does, we sure hope it’ll finally introduce Yoshi to the big screen.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie stars Chris Pratt, Charlie Day, Anya Taylor-Joy, Jack Black, Seth Rogen, Keegan-Micheal Key, Fred Armisen, Kevin Michael Richardson, Khary Payton and Sebastian Maniscalco. The movie is now showing in cinemas.
