‘The Punisher: One Last Kill’: Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle Unleashes Vengeance In Disney+ Special

Vengeance has a name, and it’s none other than Frank Castle, aka Punisher. The antihero is back to wreak havoc in the trailer for his Marvel TV special, Punisher: One Last Kill, promising no shortage of violence as he fights against various enemies… and his own ghosts.

As shown in the clip, Jon Bernthal, reprising his role from Netflix’s original The Punisher series, is most certainly not having a good time — he gets lit on fire, hallucinates, and continues to be weighed down by the death of her daughter, Lisa Barbara Castle. Jason R. Moore’s Curtis Hoyle, the former Navy SARC who helps veterans suffering from PTSD, also appears to tell Frank, “Talk to me. Tell me what’s going on.”

Not much else is known about the story, but the official description reads, “Frank searches for meaning beyond revenge, when an unexpected force pulls him back into the fight.” Bernthal co-wrote the one-shot alongside Reinaldo Marcus Green, marking a reunion between the duo after We Own This City.

Punisher: One Last Kill is set to premiere on 12 May, one week after the finale of Daredevil: Born Again‘s second season, which makes sense since the timelines of both shows overlap. Following his standalone outing, the character will make his big-screen Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) debut in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, releasing on 31 July.

The Punisher: One Last Kill

Bernthal first portrayed Frank in Season 2 of 2015’s Daredevil series and went on to star in his own Punisher spin-off from 2017 to 2019. The vigilante was last seen in the first season of Born Again, where he joined forces with Charlie Cox’s Daredevil to take on Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin. Both Daredevil and The Punisher are part of a bigger network of street-level superhero titles, which also includes Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and The Defenders.

The Punisher will return to Disney+ on 12 May.
