The Mandalorian “Beskar Steel” Xbox Controller & Charging Stand Is Coming

With Season 2 of The Mandalorian finally landing this week, at 30 October 2020, Microsoft has decided to jump on the hype and came up with an official Mandalorian-themed Xbox Wireless Controller & Charging Stand combo. It’s already sold out on pre-orders via the Microsoft Store for a whopping US$169.99, and starts shipping on 31 December 2020.

Unfortunately, for its price, the controller is still made out of plastic, and not Beskar steel. But it does carry the Beskar steel look all around, complete with the skull of the mythosaur (symbol of all Mandalorians) on the right, and Djarin’s own mudhorn signet on the left.

Don’t worry, The Child (a.k.a. Baby Yoda) hasn’t been left out of this one. It’s on the back of the controller. Small, but the “WANTED” print sure is a nice touch.

But is it all worth the US$169.99 bounty for the controller and magnetic charging stand?

Even though the controller is compatible with the Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC, one can’t help but wonder why it still uses the Xbox One controller design, which doesn’t carry the updated D-pad and Share button that comes with the Xbox Series X|S.
