The King of Monsters is continuing his rampage, and this time, he has set his sights on the West, as the first trailer for Toho’s sequel, Godzilla Minus Zero, has dropped, offering a glimpse at the beast’s globe-trotting adventure.
While brief, the 48-second teaser already looks to up the stakes of the 2023 original, with the sequel’s story taking place two years later and continuing the tale of its returning cast members, Ryunosuke Kamiki as Kōichi and Minami Hamabe as Noriko, survivors of Godzilla’s initial attack on Japan.
The trailer offered glimpses of Godzilla Minus Zero’s set pieces, including Kōichi taking to the skies once more as he flies towards what seems to be some kind of weather anomaly, alongside a first look at the King of Monsters himself as he emerges from the water, sporting what looks to be a new form. The trailer ends with an iconic image of Godzilla walking past the Statue of Liberty, meaning he is now moving past Japan and looking to continue his rampage across the ocean.

Godzilla Minus Zero marks the 37th film in the wider Godzilla franchise, and the 33rd produced by Toho, the original creators of the beast. Director Takashi Yamazaki returns to helm the sequel following his work on Godzilla Minus One, which became an instant hit among fans both in Japan and across the globe, becoming the highest-grossing Japanese Godzilla film in both Japan and North America, as well as snagging an Oscar for best visual effects, a first for a Japanese feature.
Godzilla Minus Zero will make landfall on 3 November 2026 in Japan, followed by a North American theatrical release on 6 November 2026.
