The Bride Always Knocks Twice – Killer Secrets: This Virtual Murder Mystery Even Allows Fans To Investigate A “Crime Scene” In Real Life

With most attractions in Singapore slowly opening up due to the evolving worldwide pandemic, Singaporeans are finding it hard to look for something new to do. Fortunately, for those who have been looking for an outlet to alleviate their boredom, an interactive multi-platform murder mystery might be the answer. The Theatre Practice introduces their upcoming project, The Bride Always Knocks Twice — Killer Secrets.

Directed by Practice’s award-winning Artistic Director, Kuo Jian Hong with veteran playwrights Jonathan Lim (Four Horse Road, Chestnuts) and Liu Xiaoyi (Citizen X, Southernmost Project), the multi-platform experience invites the audience to try their hand at solving the mysterious murder of one of the seven women hailing from different eras in a house outside of time and space, far from present-day Singapore.

The Bride Always Knocks Twice — Killer Secrets will be held both online and in-venue hosted by Hotel Soloha. The hybrid experience will be part game and part theatre format where participants take on the role of investigators to solve the mystery spanning four chapters. Each chapter of the experience has its own objectives that will help the audience get closer to revealing the suspect of the cruel crime.

Chapter 1 is titled Conflicts and will be held online on the “Digital Theatre” that can be found on The Bride Always Knocks Twice — Killer Secrets’ official website. For this 45 minute part of the experience, participants will be brought back to the night of the murder and watch the loyalties and conflicts play out between the seven characters.

Following up with Chapter 2, titled Lies, the audience may question two out of the five suspects to uncover their motives and test the alibis that they have conjured.

The live interrogation is also held online with a duration of 60 minutes and is an immediate lead up from Chapter 1. Participants will select two suspects to interrogate before the experience starts and can look through the online case files that have the women’s background details for a smoother transition.

This is where the show gets interesting, Chapter 3 is not a segment that is included in the base ticket price. Here’s an optional juncture for the audience to garner extra clues that will lead them closer to identifying the real culprit of the murder. Titled the Crime Scene, the 30-minute on-site investigation, , ticketed separately at a nominal fee of S$5, will be located at Hotel Soloha where parts of The Bride Always Knocks Twice – Killer Secrets takes place.

And finally, Chapter 4, Revelation will conclude the whole experience. Taking place on 6 June 2021, the final chapter will unmask the real identity of the killer. The audience will be tuning in online through the Digital Theatre, following the policewoman in revealing the truth as it finally comes to light.

In addition to the visual theatrics, participants may extend their experience with an intimate high-tea experience, Tea Time Tales from 7 to 17 June at S$40 for 2 pax. Featuring delicacies from Chinatown’s heritage brands and hawkers, this segment will help participants connect to the history and lives of the women from the show.

Similar to Chapter 3, this extension is not included in the ticket price purchased for The Bride Always Knocks Twice — Killer Secrets. Those keen will be able to enrich their experience at a small cost.

The upcoming interactive experience empowers participants to direct their own investigation and what makes it more exciting is the fact that you have the option to team up with your friends to cover more ground by buying device bundles.

Moreover, an additional incentive of S$1,000 and two nights stay at Hotel Soloha is being offered as a grand prize for those who can solve the mystery identity of the murder and be able to justify it with a credible case. In addition, ticket holders can also enjoy exclusive perks and discounts at participating partners (more info on the official website).
